BUILDWITHTIMMY FAQ

Good questions before you build.

Straight answers about the idea process, AI-assisted development, pricing, ownership, launch, and support.

Why does BuildWithTimmy focus on making software more affordable?

Because good ideas shouldn’t be reserved for people who already have a lot of money. An app, website, or SaaS idea might become a side hustle, a small business, or simply bring someone extra income. AI-assisted development reduces repetitive developer work, which can lower the cost of testing and launching an idea. The goal is to give more people a realistic chance to build something.

If AI makes development cheaper, why do I still need a developer?

AI can reduce repetitive work, but real products still need human engineering. Architecture, integrations, debugging, security, payments, deployment, App Store releases, production problems, feature changes, scaling, and ongoing maintenance all require judgment and accountability. AI changes what the developer spends time on; it doesn’t remove the need for one.

Could the thing I build actually make me money?

It could, but there are no guarantees. BuildWithTimmy helps you think through the idea, research the market, identify what looks promising, and start with a sensible scope before spending heavily. The goal is to make experimenting with a potential side-income or business idea more accessible—not to promise that every idea will become profitable.

Why can BuildWithTimmy start around $500?

Modern AI agents can assist with repetitive development work such as organizing requirements, drafting boilerplate, preparing tests, documentation, and routine code tasks. That can reduce the number of paid developer hours required for smaller projects. I still review, integrate, test, and make the engineering decisions, but the lower overhead lets me pass some of the efficiency back to you.

Does $500 mean every app costs $500?

No. $500 is a common starting point for smaller, clearly scoped projects—not a guarantee for every idea. A complex marketplace, large SaaS platform, regulated product, advanced AI system, or app with many integrations can cost more. We use the idea workspace to understand the scope before agreeing on a build.

Do I have to pay the entire project price up front?

No. Once we agree on the scope, final price, and contract, you can choose to pay the agreed project price in full or use an agreed milestone payment schedule when that option is offered for the project. The goal is to make getting started more manageable without hiding the total project cost.

How do milestone payments work?

The total project price is broken into smaller payments tied to agreed stages of the build. For example, a $1,000 project might use four $250 payments: one to start, one after the core build, one around client review, and a final payment before launch. That is only an example; your actual milestones, amounts, and due points are written into the project agreement before development begins.

Can I just pay the project in full?

Yes. If you would rather make one payment, you can choose to pay the agreed project price in full. After the contract is accepted and the required payment is confirmed, the project can move into development.

Are milestone payments the same thing as escrow?

No. BuildWithTimmy describes these as project or milestone payments. They should not be treated as legal escrow unless a licensed escrow provider is specifically used and identified for your project. Your agreement will explain the payment schedule and when each payment is due.

Will splitting the payments change the total project price?

The agreed total project price remains visible in your proposal and contract. Any payment schedule, processing fees, or other payment-specific terms should be disclosed before you accept the agreement. BuildWithTimmy is designed so you can see what the project costs and what is due at each stage.

Does AI build my entire product by itself?

No. AI is used as a development assistant. It can accelerate repetitive tasks and help explore options, but a human developer is responsible for architecture, integration, code review, security decisions, testing, debugging, deployment, and the final product.

How is BuildWithTimmy different from a natural-language AI app builder?

Natural-language app builders can be useful for quickly exploring an idea or creating a prototype. BuildWithTimmy adds an accountable developer who validates requirements, reviews generated code, makes architecture and security decisions, tests integrations, handles deployment, and supports the product after launch. AI speeds up the work; it does not own the outcome.

What can you build?

BuildWithTimmy is aimed at websites, web apps, SaaS products, APIs, AI features, iOS apps, and Android apps. The exact stack depends on what the product actually needs.

Do I own the code and product?

The goal is for clients to own the product they pay to have built, including project code created for that engagement, subject to any third-party libraries, services, licenses, or separately agreed terms. Specific ownership details should be stated in the project agreement before development starts.

Does BuildWithTimmy actually research the live web?

Yes. Research options can search live web sources automatically when you click them. The results can include real competitor pages, pricing pages, product information, user discussions, and other relevant sources. BuildWithTimmy then analyzes those sources against your idea instead of relying only on what an AI model remembers.

Can I see where the research information came from?

Yes. Live research keeps clickable source links with the report so you can open the evidence yourself. Current-market claims should be treated as source-backed only when the research returned usable citations.

What does BuildWithTimmy research?

The Research area includes focused options for competitors, users, pricing, gaps and opportunities, marketing, SEO + AI discovery, third-party APIs, datasets, supporting product features, AI integration, and product naming. The goal is to investigate the parts of the market and build that matter before money is spent on development.

Why talk through the idea before asking for a quote?

Because vague requirements cause expensive mistakes. The Explore, Positives, Research, and Plan stages help capture what you mean, what matters, what you do not want, and what the first version actually needs. That gives development a much cleaner starting point.

Will the AI always tell me my idea is good?

No. It is instructed not to be a yes-man. It should point out ambiguity, weak assumptions, and difficult parts. The Positives tab is only for specific strengths supported by what has actually been learned about the idea.

What happens to the ideas I save?

Your saved ideas are tied to your authenticated account. The web app stores new BuildWithTimmy idea data separately under your account so it does not overwrite existing application data. Before production launch, privacy terms and retention policies should clearly explain how project data is handled.

Can you publish to the Apple App Store and Google Play?

Yes, launch support can include preparing iOS and Android builds and helping with store submission. Apple and Google accounts, review requirements, fees, policies, and approval decisions remain controlled by those platforms.

Who actually builds my project after I finish working through the idea?

You can work directly with Timmy, the developer behind BuildWithTimmy. The point of the Explore, Research, and Plan process is to make sure the idea is clear before development starts. When you are ready to build, Timmy can take that context and turn it into the actual website, app, SaaS product, backend, or other software.

Will I be able to talk directly to the developer?

Yes. If Timmy is building your project, you work with him directly rather than being passed between salespeople, project managers, and anonymous developers. That means the same developer can understand your original idea, the research, the decisions you made, and the changes you want during development.

What does it mean that the developer is on call?

It means you can have an ongoing developer relationship instead of being left alone after delivery. Depending on the support arrangement, Timmy can be available for questions, bug fixes, feature changes, deployment issues, app-store updates, maintenance, and other development needs. Exact response times and support terms are agreed for each project.

What happens after my project launches?

You can handle it yourself or continue with maintenance and support. Ongoing help can cover bug fixes, dependency updates, small improvements, monitoring, store updates, AI changes, analytics, and other agreed maintenance work.

Can I use BuildWithTimmy without hiring Timmy?

Yes. The idea workspace should still help you clarify, explore, research, and plan your product. When you are ready to build, you can choose whether to work with Timmy.
